From Fabric to Future: Notes From the Room

This Berlin Fashion Week AW26 saw Vicki Malone's first ever Pop-Up event, the weather was particularly frosty but that did not deter people from passing through the door of the wonderful Desire Lines Books to enjoy a slow, cosy afternoon of fashion and conversation.

The bookstore was the most perfect backdrop for my pieces, as you know I love a good story and in its former life it was once a butcher shop, which is why there were these lovely tiles. What a wonderful way to present your products, seems that the past truly knew how to make practical things pretty. The particular shade of green made the room not only inviting but was a wonderful contrast to the pieces in that were hanging.

Among the visitors, were students, lawyers and of course friends. We shared our stories of our own fashion journeys, how we were and what we hope to see from the industry going forward. It was so inspiring to see people come together as we sipped coffee and discussed clothing, from manufacture to how we wear and look after it.

The event turned out was exactly how I hoped it would, very relaxed and open to everyone. And although Vicki Malone is not quite the normal Berlin Aesthetic (black, grey, edgy etc) it does show that there is room for us all here. A huge thank you goes to the wonderful Iti, who worked night and day to pull together the space for us to host the event. Not only is she a dear friend but a master curator of books, and her selection at Desire Lines Books is absolutely wonderful. A must visit when in Berlin.

And with that, I am already thinking of what we can do next. I couldn't ask for a better community. The next event is already in the works.
